QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Born in Khan Yunis in 1953 to a family made refugees from al-Jaladiyya in 1948, he grew up in Gaza and studied English literature at Ain Shams University. He worked for the Palestinian press in Beirut and at the PLO’s Planning Center in Tunis, returned to Gaza in 1994, directed the newspaper al-Ayyam there, and in 1999 became managing editor of the literary quarterly al-Karmel. His books include a memoir, Land of the Deer (2003), and he translated Israeli writers into Arabic.
