QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
A festival and pilgrimage whose procession leaves the Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem for the shrine of the Prophet Moses in the wilderness of Jerusalem, some eight kilometres south of Jericho, overlooking the Dead Sea. The Mamluk sultan al-Zahir Baybars built the shrine over the tomb in 1269; a mosque, a minaret, wells and some 150 rooms were added over the centuries, and the Mufti of Jerusalem, Mohammad Tahir al-Husayni, restored it in 1885. It stood on the pilgrimage route, which gave it its importance.
