An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Writer, translator, historian and literary critic
1938–2013
Born in 1938 in the village of Lubya, in the Tiberias subdistrict, he was driven out with his family after the Nakba; they reached Lebanon in October 1948 and settled in the Wavel camp in Baalbek, later renamed al-Jalil (Galilee) camp. A writer, translator, historian and literary critic, he admired the work of Samira Azzam and Ghassan Kanafani, and held that the Nakba shaped his critical consciousness. He died in the Nahr el-Bared camp on 2 May 2013.
