Born in Jabalia camp in the Gaza Strip in 1959, he studied fine arts in Alexandria and returned to hold his first exhibition in Deir Ghassana. A founder of the New Vision artists’ group in 1987, and of the al-Wasiti Art Center in Jerusalem in 1997 with Vera Tamari and Sliman Mansour, he represented Palestine at the São Paulo Biennial in 1996.
