An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Lawyer and nationalist of Safad
1895–1954
Born in Safad in 1895, he joined Emir Faisal’s forces in the First World War and was in their vanguard when they entered Damascus in 1918. Back in Palestine he used a post in the British police to smuggle arms for the Syrian revolt of 1925, qualified as a lawyer at the Jerusalem Law Classes in 1932, and served the Awqaf of Acre. When the Great Revolt was proclaimed in April 1936 the British arrested him and interned him at Sarafand and Awja al-Hafir. He died in Damascus on 4 July 1954.
