An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Painter and cartoonist
1905–1997
Born in Jerusalem on 26 June 1905, she spent the First World War with her family in Kiev, graduated from the Jerusalem Girls’ College in 1924 with four languages, and worked in the Mandate administration. Back from her studies in Paris on the eve of the revolt of 1936, she drew political cartoons rejecting the Balfour Declaration and the partition resolution, and after the revolt painted to preserve the land of Palestine as she had known it. She died in Jerusalem on 21 May 1997.
