QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Born in Birzeit in 1947, he studied at the Bezalel academy in Jerusalem and has exhibited since 1975. His paintings of the Palestinian struggle, of peasant life and of people in traditional dress include Camels of Hardship (1973), his best known. He led the League of Palestinian Artists, was a member of the New Vision group of the first Intifada, co-founded the al-Wasiti Art Center in Jerusalem, won the Nile Award at the Cairo Biennial in 1998, and with Nabil Anani designed the Museum of Palestinian Folklore at In‘ash al-Usra.
