QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Born in Jaffa in 1945, he taught sociology at Birzeit University from 1971 and earned his doctorate at Manchester in 1983. He took part in the refugee working group of the multilateral peace talks, and from 1994 directed the Institute of Jerusalem Studies of the Institute for Palestine Studies and edited the Jerusalem Quarterly. His books include Jerusalem 1948 (1999) and The Mountain Against the Sea (2005), and, with Issam Nassar, an edition of Wasif Jawhariyyeh’s memoirs.
