An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Poet
1926–1984
Born in Gaza in 1926, he met communists of the National Liberation League in 1947, studied journalism at the American University in Cairo from 1948, and published his first collection, al-Ma‘raka (The Battle), in Cairo in 1952. Back in Gaza he taught English at the government school in Shuja‘iyya and at UNRWA’s school in the Bureij camp. He died in London on 23 January 1984.
