An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Writer and nationalist; a founder of the Independence Party
1887–1984
Born in Nablus on 21 June 1887 to a cloth merchant’s family, he worked in the Ottoman postal and telegraph service and wrote for the Beirut press. In August 1932 he was on the founding committee of the Arab Independence Party in Palestine; he went with the Arab Higher Committee’s delegation to the kings of Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and was a Palestinian delegate to the Bludan congress of September 1937, which rejected partition. Chosen for the reconstituted Arab Higher Committee in 1946, he resigned within months because of ill health. He died in Damascus on 26 July 1984.
