Born in Beit Sahour, near Bethlehem, in 1938, he taught school there and in al-Eizariya, and from the early 1960s wrote short stories, novels and plays, one of the New Horizon (al-Ufuq al-Jadid) generation of writers. He took part in the First Intifada and in the civil disobedience for which Beit Sahour became famous, and wrote the novel Intifada, published in 1998. He died in Beit Sahour on 16 December 2020.
