An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Scholar; member of the Palestine National Council from 1977
1929–2001
Born in Jaffa’s al-Manshiyya quarter on 15 February 1929, he helped found the first nationwide union of Palestinian students in the school year 1947–48. Elected to the Palestine National Council in 1977, he and Edward Said met the US Secretary of State George Shultz on 26 March 1988 to discuss how Palestinians would be represented in negotiations. He died in Ramallah on 23 May 2001, during the Second Intifada.
