An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Historian and thinker
1927–2005
Born in Jaffa in 1927, he spent his childhood in Jaffa and Acre, studied philosophy at the American University of Beirut and the University of Chicago, and in 1949 was an official of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party before emigrating to the United States, where he took his doctorate in history. After the Oslo Accords he visited Palestine and his birthplace, Jaffa, in 1993; by late 1996 he had become critical of the agreement. He died in Beirut on 13 January 2005.
