QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Born in Jerusalem on 1 April 1955 to a Christian family and raised in Bethlehem, he was managing editor of the English edition of al-Fajr from 1982 to 1987 and wrote for al-Quds. He founded the Jerusalem Film Institute in 1990, the Arabic Media Internet Network in 1995 and the Institute of Modern Media at al-Quds University; in 1997 the Palestinian Authority held him without charge for a week after he broadcast the Legislative Council live. He received the Press Freedom Award of the Committee to Protect Journalists in 1996.
