An early pilot · A community project
QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.
Person · Historian; the dean of Palestinian historians
1892–1973
Born in Jerusalem in 1892, he studied at Istanbul University and in 1913 warned in Filastin that the Zionists were taking the country village by village. Under the Mandate he served as a district officer in Jenin, Nablus, Baysan and Jaffa, for ten years from 1929 in Bir al-Sabi‘, then in Gaza and Ramallah, and wrote histories of Bir al-Sabi‘ and its tribes, of Gaza and of Jerusalem. Having recorded the Nakba as he witnessed it, he wrote its history in six volumes. He died in Ramallah in 1973.
