The white village dress of Nablus and Tulkarm

Unlike almost everywhere else in Palestine, village women in the Nablus and Tulkarm areas, between the north and the centre of the country, wore dresses generally without embroidery: of white cotton or linen, their only ornament coloured stripes running the length of the gown. Why they differed from the rest is unclear.
