Engraving on metals: gold, silver and copper

النقش على المعادن: الذهب والفضة والنحاس

Engraving names, Qur’anic verses, prayers, symbols and geometric patterns by hand into objects of gold, silver and copper, decorative, religious and everyday: wedding gifts, ritual objects, pieces thought to heal; an expression of cultural, religious and geographical identity. The craft is learnt in the family and in workshops and training centres. UNESCO inscribed it in 2023 on the joint nomination of ten Arab states, the State of Palestine among them.
