Henna

Henna leaves are harvested, dried, ground and made into a paste, which women apply to the hair, fingertips, hands and feet: a symbol of joy in daily life and at births and weddings; its branches and leaves also serve in crafts and traditional medicine. The skills are learnt in the family, by watching and doing. UNESCO inscribed the element in 2024 on the joint nomination of sixteen states, the State of Palestine among them.
