During the war surrounding the establishment of Israel, more than half of the Palestinian Arab population fled or was expelled. The Nakba names this catastrophe of displacement and dispossession.
Link to this chapter15 May is the annual remembrance date. It does not mean that all displacement occurred on that day. This record uses year-level historical dating and a separate commemoration date.
