QADIYA is an independent, noncommercial community project: an archive of Palestine’s history, built for the cause and open to everyone.
This is an early pilot. Its records were gathered with AI help from cited sources and are still being checked, so don’t rely on them yet, and tell us if something is wrong.
We’re looking for people and organisations to build it with us: historians, archivists, translators, designers, developers, and partners who can support the work.

إخلاء المستوطنات من قطاع غزة
Date qualified17 August – 21 September 2005
Gaza Strip
Between 17 and 22 August 2005 Israel evacuated the Gaza Strip’s settlers, some 8,000 people, and completed its military withdrawal by 21 September, while keeping tight control of the Strip from land, sea and air.
Israeli forces carried out the forcible evacuation of Gaza’s settlers, some 8,000 people, between 17 and 22 August 2005, and completed the military withdrawal by 21 September. Four small settlements in the northern West Bank were evacuated too: Ganim, Qadim, Homesh and Sanur.
Israel kept tight external control of the Strip from land, sea and air, and declared Gaza “foreign territory”. The encyclopedia reads Ariel Sharon’s aims as removing the burden of protecting settlers among a large Palestinian population, separating Gaza from the West Bank, and keeping the West Bank’s main settlement blocs.
